Membership Information

Membership at SonCoast means learning to impact the community in which we live and to serve God with a faithful heart. Membership at SonCoast isn't about joining a church; it's about intentional steps toward spiritual growth and living biblically. For many, the membership process is a practical step individuals take to turn their desires for spiritual growth and transformation into reality.

The members of SonCoast Community Church are men and women committed to living life in and through the power of the Holy Spirit. Pursuing membership is an individual choice. Whether or not you are interested in becoming a member, we encourage you to participate in the life of our church and continue to learn how to live in Christ.

Membership Process

Attend “Discovering Your S.H.A.P.E. for Ministry” Class

At this class, you will gain an understanding of the core values and vision of SonCoast Community Church and discover your S.H.A.P.E. for ministry. As you get into S.H.A.P.E. (Spiritual Gifts; Heart; Abilities; Personality; Experience), you develop a personal profile for ministry and learn how to utilize your God-given gifts/abilities to serve God and others in the church family.

Complete the Membership Application

When you are ready to join the SonCoast family, complete the membership application and call the office to set up an appointment for you to meet with one of the pastoral staff for an interview (30 minutes).

Meet with a member of the pastoral staff or elder board to share your testimony of faith in Christ

A member of the pastoral staff or elder board will set up a convenient meeting time for you (couples may interview together if preferred). This will be your opportunity to share your testimony of faith in Christ and ask any questions you may have regarding SonCoast. The information you share during this meeting will be communicated with the ministry staff and elder board and will be kept confidential. If you have not yet been baptized and are ready to take this step of obedience to Christ, you will be given the opportunity to get started in the baptism process.

Recommendation for Membership

Upon completion of your membership interview, the person conducting the interview will make a recommendation concerning membership to the Elder Board of SonCoast. Membership recommendations are reviewed at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the elder board.

Based on the recommendation of the pastoral staff and/or elder, the elder board will give final approval of your membership. You will receive a letter from the church indicating the board’s approval of your membership application.
