***Parents and volunteers please read this letter regarding changes in the children's ministry:
Dear “SonCoast Kids” Parents and Volunteers,
As you have heard in recent weeks, Elizabeth Wheeler stepped down from her position as Children’s Ministry Director effective the last week of July. She has done an AMAZING job of building a solid foundation for our kids programming here at SonCoast. Her efforts have yielded tremendous fruit in the lives of our kids and have left an indelible (and beautiful) imprint on our ministry. Read more...

SonCoast Kidz Ministry Director: Faith Dillon:
Faith has been in Christian ministry for over thirty years. As the wife of a pastor, she has had opportunity to use her gifts and talents in a variety of areas, but the one nearest and dearest to her heart is working with children. Faith was a homeschooling mom who raised three (now grown) children of her own. She has written and directed a number of children’s productions, has taught children’s Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and mid-week Bible Clubs, has worked with a variety of children’s programs (from traditional programs such as AWANA and Boys Brigade/Pioneer Girls programs to having “pioneered” and developed her own programs and curriculum, as well), and has served on the children’s ministry staffs of two prior churches.
SonCoast Kidz Ministry Administrator: Phyllis Heidemann:
In addition to her responsibilities here at SonCoast, Phyllis is currently on staff at one of the area’s most prestigious private day schools. She has been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for the past 30 years, is a state credentialed VPK Lead Classroom Instructor and is certified in both Infant and Adult CPR and First Aid. Phyllis lends her years of experience in curriculum management and planning to her role of overseeing and organizing our classroom curricula, materials, and volunteer staffing. In addition, she oversees our children’s ministry safety and security initiatives.
Children’s Ministry Teachers and Aides:
These are various SonCoasters with hearts for training our young ones in the amazing truths of God’s word and helping to awaken them to His amazing grace in their lives.
Our volunteers* are moms and dads, grandparents, and guardian angels who give of their time and talents to help our SonCoast Kidz grow in their faith. They come from every background and have varying levels of experience, but what they have in common is a GREAT love for the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of our children!
*We employ a background-check service to screen our staff and volunteers who work directly with our children.
Our SonCoast Kidz Mission (a special “kid friendly” version of our Church mission) is:
To help our youngest members to grow in grace. Through age-appropriate Bible teaching, fellowship and fun within a loving and supportive community, and an emphasis on loving others through age-appropriate service opportunities, we hope to impact the other kidz in our community (and the world!) with the reality of God’s love. We invite all children ages infant to 5th grade to join us in our greatest of quests – to know God’s love, and make it known!
Sunday Morning Program:
Each Sunday morning, our children join our church-family-at-large for a time of corporate worship and prayer. They are then dismissed to their age-appropriate classes. While our adult members enjoy the remainder of the Sunday Morning service, our children enjoy their own time of Bible teaching along with activities, crafts, and games to support their lessons.
We employ the “Faith Weaver” curriculum by Group Publishing. Their motto is “Weaving faith into families,” and their program is specifically tailored to make Bible lessons both fun and practical. Classes are divided by age and grade as follows:
- “Teaching Nursery” for infants up to 23 months.
- Preschool for children ages 2 years to 4 years
- Kindergarten to Second Grade
- 3rd Grade to 5th Grade
Wednesday Night Program: Kidz Vidz !!!:
Calling all kidz, ages K-5th grade! Join us each Wednesday evening from 6:30-8pm for Kidz Vidz, our mid-week children's program. Each week we'll enjoy a time of lively recreation and prayer time. Then we’ll settle down with some popcorn and candy (you can't watch a movie without a little candy!) to watch a kid friendly video. From family classics to Christian super-hero sagas, each week we'll feature a story to live and learn by. We'll explore and apply spiritual principles from the films we view, and have lots of fun in the process.
First we'll run, play, and pray. Then we'll munch, lounge, and learn. Feel free to bring a throw pillow to get nice and comfy for the movie! Dim the lights...the main feature is about to begin!
